When an emergency situation occurs, do you have access to current information? We now have a system that allows us to send you a message directly to your cell phone, PDA, or pager during an emergency. This Internet-based emergency notification system is called Mason Alert and is a free service available to anyone using our facilities including parents and visitors. This system allows the University Police dispatchers to send you a text or email message when emergencies develop on campus.
In addition, Mason Alert now has the optional capability to provide you with information related to Mason’s hours of operation during inclement weather. If you are interested in this option, choose the “early closing – delayed opening group” when setting up your Mason Alert account.

Several jurisdictions have emergency notification systems that you can also join. These systems offer weather and traffic alerts specific to that county that will keep you informed of local conditions at home. Many of these same alert groups have been included in the Mason Alert system for your convenience.

Fairfax County uses the "Community Emergency Alert Network", or CEAN, to deliver important emergency alerts, notifications and updates during a major crisis or emergency.
When you register, be sure to go choose the George Mason University section on the second page and book mark it.
