Paul Didier joined the Environmental Health and Safety Office in April 2014 as Director of Laboratory Safety and Environmental Compliance. In this role, he has responsibility for the Biological Safety, Chemical Safety, Radiation Safety, Environmental Compliance, Industrial Hygiene, and Occupational Health programs on all campuses.
Paul came to George Mason University with a broad background in environmental health and safety, in a wide variety of industries. Most recently, he worked as Director of Environmental Health and Safety for the Wellstat Companies, a privately held biotechnology group based in Gaithersburg, MD. Prior to working at Wellstat, Paul worked for Nabi Biopharmaceuticals and for Celera Genomics, both located in Rockville, MD. During his years in the biotechnology industry, Paul served as Biosafety Officer, Chemical Hygiene Officer, and Radiation Safety Office, working in both R&D and manufacturing facilities. Paul’s early career included work in the consulting industry, on both private and government contracts, and also positions with the Fairfax County Health Department and the University of Virginia.
Paul has a BA in Biology from the University of Virginia and an MPH from Johns Hopkins University, and is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager.
