Power failures commonly result from the overloading of a fuse or circuit, and occasionally result from faults at power stations, damage to electric transmission lines, substations or other parts of the distribution system. No matter the cause, in the event of a power failure, all personnel must secure the materials they are working with, turn off any equipment in use, and evacuate the laboratory until power is restored.
