The university maintains various safety plans that define the organizational structure, responsibilities, and procedures the university utilizes to promote and provide a safe work environment. George Mason University models safety plans using nationally recognized or sanctioned standards, federal and state guidance, and best practices.


The following guides provide instructions and information on how to work safely with various types of equipment, tools, or machinery. Each guide is designed to address a general safety issue and should be used in conjunction with other safety plans and guides as necessary depending upon work activities.
